Located on Pacific Highway on the western edge of Chatswood’s central business district, Dickson Rothschild were Architects for this boutique building of 26 residential apartments and two quality ground floor retail spaces. The building features a stunning street frontage and enviable views to the Lane Cover River. The development has the potential to encourage other quality developments and lift the design quality and amenity of this busy and challenging section of the highway. Despite the merits of the development, it proceeded to Land and Environment Court with Mills Oakley acting as Solicitors, Nigel Dickson as Expert Witness for Architecture & Urban Design and other experienced Expert Witnesses in Planning, Traffic and other areas.

The appeal process allowed Council to appreciate the site’s strategic location – positioned next door to the local high school and public park, within a short walking distance to Chatswood Metro Station and in a high housing demand suburb – and its design merits. A mediated outcome was achieved that included a successful challenge to the LEP height of buildings standard. Now moving into construction, an under-appreciated part of Chatswood will soon be welcoming a delightful, mixed-use building with leafy apartments and café/retail overlooking the local park.
