The charming Little Gorge Beach House was designed in the 1950’s by eminent modernist architect Robert Dickson. It features a simple pyramidal roof form on a compact holiday house plan. It is a beautiful state heritage listed item on South Australia’s dramatic Rapid Bay coast.
Dickson Rothschild helped the owners undertake a renovation in 2012 to make the house more usable and to protect the delicate natural environment upon which it resides. Simple and considered design interventions of modernising the bathroom, installing new water and sanitisation systems and upgrading the window shutter materials were implemented. These small changes have ensured longevity of the Little Gorge Beach House as a holiday home and have retained the building as a much-loved sight for visitors and tourists to the area.
